During your time at the Fraunhofer IAO (Institut für Arbeitswirtschaft und Organisation/Institute of Industrial Engineering) and in close collaboration with the University in Stuttgart IAT (Institut für Arbeitswissenschaft und Technologiemanagement/Institute of Human Factors and Technology Management) and industry partners, you will work at the intersection of Internet of Things (IOT) enabled devices, robotics, and cyber security. In the context of international research projects, you will have the opportunity to engage with highly interdisciplinary teams at Fraunhofer IAO who look at IT and cyber security holistically under consideration of economic viability and usability. You will explore IT security challenges with semi-humanoid, social robots like Pepper or MiRo and newly-built, experimental IoT enabled devices.

Your tasks: 

  • Hardware and software integration in experimental robots 
  • Programming and interaction design of social robots 
  • Development of novel and holistic security models to quickly assess risks 
  • Definition and simulation of threat scenarios 
  • Design and implementation of preventive mechanisms

Your profile: 

  • Current studies in a STEM related subject .
  • Excellent programming skills .
  • Experience with Python, Java, Robot Operating System (ROS) .
  • Structured and analytical working style .
  • Willingness and ability to work both independently and in interdisciplinary teams
