I was assigned to the billing team inside the Commerce Platform at Amazon Web Services. My job was to create a tool for internal use that would allow customer service officers to view the billing history of a customer and to calculate refunds.

In order to accomplish my goal, I had to learn the AWS stack, which consists of systems and build tools developed inside Amazon. The entire system is incredibly well designed for robustness and scalability,. The concepts I learned in classes at MIT helped me get up to speed quickly and write code that will be easy to read and maintain by the engineers at Amazon.

Berlin is a flourishing start-up environment, with a huge influx of talented software developers from all over the world. I had the opportunity to interact with many professionals at various tech meetups, and I believe I became a better programmer as a result of these interactions. I was also very impressed by how artistic of a city Berlin is. There's music and dancing and art at every corner, which gives the city a fresh and youthful vibe.

After a summer spent in Berlin, the city left a lasting positive impression on me, and I'm sure I'll return there at the first occasion.
