Passport and Visa

Be sure to stay organized and book appointments early!

MISTI TIP #1
Applying for a Passport

Is this your first time traveling abroad?  You need a passport!  Make sure to start your application a few months before leaving, and gather together everything you need

1.  Passport application form

2.  Passport photo

3. Proof of U.S. citizenship (2 copies)

4.  State ID (2 copies)

5.  Passport fee (~$145)

MISTI TIP #2
Booking an Appointment

Schedule an appointment online with the German Consulate Boston as soon as you can. Often requests must be made 2+ months in advance.

Remember, no staples!  When you arrive for your appointment at the Consulate, be sure not to have any papers stapled (a German bearaucratic pet peeve).  Instead, use paperclips to hold documents together.

MISTI TIP #3
Schengen Area

What the Schengen 90/180 Rule means for you if you can travel visa-free for 90 days. Remember, your arrival and departure dates are included in the 90 day time frame!
